How to Have a Successful Site!

Billions of Sites are On Line, but only a Few Thousand are Successful!

Those who will invest a few minutes reading what follows will increase their chances of having one of the few successful sites instead of having another one of the billions that is never found.

Do you want a site that costs a lot with all the bells whistles? Or would you prefer a site that works, does what you want, and does not cost a lot? The choice is yours.

The most important thing is to find a main theme for your site that we can promote. We will develop it on the front page to get the visitor into the site and then motivate them to click for more of what you have to offer.

If you want to succeed online there are a few things you need to know. Just building a site is not all there is to being successful. It is just part, a tool, a way to become successful, not the whole plan.

These are just a few things a site needs before it is finished:

  1. Page Code–which ensures that all visitors will be able to view the site, no matter what browser they employ. Many sites are designed for MS-IE and will not work correctly in others like Netscape. That means you could lose as much as 20% of your visitors.
  2. Site Code–to make sure that when a search engine visits it can list you correctly, rank you higher, and allow you to have multiple listings.

  1. Alt tags–Properly Coded (9 out of 10 pages do not even have them) so those who have images turned off will know what was in place of the empty square they see on the page. This is especially important if it is linked to another page on the site.
  2. Uniform Appearance–The page appears to your visitors the same as it does to you. Most believe what they see is what everyone else will see and that is not necessarily true. It can be different as much as 50% of the time.
  3. Quick load time–The page loads as fast for a visitor as it does for you. Remember, after you visit your page it is cached in your PC. That means each time you visit it loads from your PC and not the site’s server and as such appears to load much faster than it does in the real world. Clear your cache and open a new browser to look at your page–be prepared for a shock.

99 out of 100 Internet users employ a search engine to find what they want on line. The others just surf the net randomly and find pages by accident; go directly to a web address due to word of mouth; or they click a link on another site.

To date I have not found one piece of software for building sites that does everything needed and does it correctly. Oh yes, they will appear to be doing everything you need, but what is missing is that which visitors do not see. Behind the scenes it is missing code for search engines telling the search engines how to link the site. The search engines need to see what categories and what words in a search relate to the site in order to list it and rank it.

Most store-bought software embeds code to promote itself. As far as search engines are concerned your site would be nothing more than another web site promoting the software you or someone else used to build YOUR site.

BIG HUGE MISTAKES

Many other web site development companies will say they can build you a site for less, but they do not write their own code. Many are using software that they purchased, which will not do anything to get your site to the top of search engines and get you visitors. They will not promote your site. In so many words it is like buying a car with no wheels. It runs but it is not going anywhere.

Many individuals building their own site (and some of those who claim to be professionals) make the following mistakes that get them excluded from search engines:

These are but a few of the many things one needs to know to be included rather than excluded from search engines.

OUR EXPERIENCE

We have been building sites since 1993. Between us all, we have combined time on the net of over 100 years. If you add in time spent working with computers, programming, and writing code we have more than 200 years.

We build sites that do not need re-work each year. The only re-work that might be needed
to a site we create would be to upgrade any code that the WWW or search engine rules require for THEIR changes. Of course any changes in your business information or just a "New Look" would make it necessary to do more work online. Otherwise our sites are designed to eliminate us as soon as we are done.

When we build a site we ask for three crucial pieces of information:

From these three items we can evaluate what can be built and promoted within the budget to reach your goals.

We first will consult with you about your site. Most people come with an unrealistic or skewed idea of the Internet. They only know about 10% of what can and needs to be done. Most people do not even know what a site is capable of producing.

There is so much to know to build a successful site that it takes literally years of experience online and 4-6 weeks annually (minimum) to keep up with all the changes made by search engines and the WWW. At NetDevelopment.net we have an average of 12 years experience each and total of over 100 years.

We have built over 300 sites with a total of 30,000+ pages over the past 10–12 years. We have kept abreast of the ever-changing "ins and outs" of the WWW and the multitude of search engines over the years. Believe me, it is a lot different now than it was in the early 1990’s.

YOUR INVESTMENT

With as little as $500 you can have a multi page site that has been built with all the correct code and promoted to GET YOUR SITE SEEN BY THE MASSES.
